Climb Newcastle News: Sportivate Funded Climbing Course with Suzan Dudink

Upgrade Climbing (that's Suzan) is working with Climb Newcastle and Sport England to offer a funded climbing course for young women, new to climbing, this spring.

The ladies climbing sessions funded by Sportative Year 6 (Tyne and Wear Sport) are mainly aimed to help novice (inactive) climbers become independent (active) climbers. The focus of the sessions will therefore mainly be on basic movement skills and climbing techniques, enjoyment of movement, meeting new people, improving general fitness and learning to use the climbing centre on your own. The sessions will be run by three female climbers who all started climbing for different reasons but kept climbing for the same reason: because they love it.

  • You must be a woman aged 17-25.
  • You must be a beginner/novice climber. Priority will be given to those who are ‘inactive’ (have done more than 30 minutes exercise on no more than 3 days in the last 25).
  • Available to attend a session each week.

Course Details:

  • £10 nominal cost to participants for a 6 week course. Session dates:
    - Week 1: Mon 27th Feb or Fri 3rd March
